Slough Grammar School
Year 7-11 : Our Results
Looking Good!

At Slough Grammar School we encourage our pupils to work hard. They take that on board, recognising that their efforts are a positive investment in their future, and consistently gain good examination results.

In years 7 to 11 pupils have two sets of results, one for Key Stage 3 and the other for their GCSE’s. Pupils recognise that the school has a long-standing record of success and high achievement and this tends to spur them on rather than concern them, a fact that is confirmed each year by their examination results.

Key Stage 3
At Key Stage 3 results are improving year on year. That isn’t to say that they were bad and getting better, they were good and they’re getting better still! There is no benefit in refusing to set pupils challenging targets and to encourage them to do their best we set clear targets for them to aim for. Currently pupils aim to achieve two levels above those which they gained during Key Stage 2 tests. This ensures that pupils know what their objectives are and what is expected of them. At the same time the target is related to their past performance and personal ability.

GCSE
Building on the firm foundation provided in the early years, our pupils go on to perform very well at GCSE level. On average our students are taking nine or ten GCSE’s, eleven in some cases. And, they complement all of that with a half course in ICT (which some take as a full course). That’s a lot of work, but they are all well prepared and as a result they do very well.

Typically, 97% of students’ GCSE grades are in the A-Star to grade C range.

Our aim is to get pupils ready for what comes next, their results certainly contribute to a valuable CV!
