AS Level
This is the first half (A1) of an A Level course. AS stands for Advanced Subsidiary and consists of three assessed units. The AS Level provides a stepping-stone to the full A Level, or it can be taken as a course/qualification in its own right if you and your teachers agree that is the best option for you.

A2 Level
This is the full A Level consisting of 3 AS units plus a further 3 A2 units which are studied at a higher level.

International Baccalaureate Diploma
This internationally recognised qualification consists of a 6 subject diploma studied partly at the higher level and partly at the standard level. Successfully completed the diploma would provide a qualification that would equate to a number of A level passes. Like a range of A Levels, this qualification is ideally suited for those intending to enter university.

Vocational Courses
These courses provide vocationally based study at an advanced level. Previously the resulting qualification was known as an Advanced Vocational Certificate in Education, it has been renamed to become an “Applied A Level.”

Applied A Level 3 Unit (part) Award:
Made up of 3 units this is the vocational equivalent of one AS Level.

Applied A Level 6 Unit (single) Award:
As the name suggests this consists of 6 units of study and leads to the vocational equivalent of one full A Level.

Applied A Level 12 Unit (double) Award:
This double award is made up of twelve units of study and the award is equal to 2 full A Levels.

GNVQ
We offer an intermediate level GNVQ which is a one year programme consisting of 6 units of study. This single qualification equates to 4 – 5 GCSEs at grades A-C. The qualification gained is the General National Vocational Qualification.
