Get them typing !
Computers are a part of our lives and life will be a little easier for those that can touch-type. Encourage your children to learn how to touch-type. You’ll help to give them a valuable skill that will last them a life-time (and may just give them a competitive edge). |

In not much more than a decade, computers have become part of our lives. If our young people are to do well in their future careers they must have solid ICT skills, from an ability to type and an understanding of the Internet to using specific standard software packages.
To help your children become familiar and comfortable with computers and software we provide them with access to ICT resources wherever we can, not just in ICT lessons. We have 8 computer rooms, over 150 PCs and 45 laptops for pupils to use, as well as laser printers, scanning facilities and digital cameras. In addition, pupils will regularly encounter technology as they learn through the use of interactive white-boards, DVDs, CD-ROMs and similar learning resources. And much of our equipment is mobile; we even have a dedicated “lap-top trolley” so that pupils can benefit from our ICT resources anywhere in the school.
Of course, pupils regularly spend time in dedicated ICT lessons, but they are encouraged to use ICT skills in other work wherever possible. All pupils have access to the computer rooms after school until 6.00 pm.
