Our mission statement

Our rapidly changing society, with its accent upon individual responsibility, requires not only high academic standards but also an independence of spirit, which Slough Grammar School seeks to foster. We aim to work in partnership with parents and the community to widen and develop each pupil’s knowledge, experience, imagination and understanding, at the same time fostering an awareness of moral values and a capacity for enjoyment, which will enable them to be an active participant in society.

Slough Grammar School seeks to:

- become a centre of excellence and creativity in learning and teaching;
- equip pupils with the ability to articulate their ideas with confidence in English and other languages.

Within the school we resolve to:

- promote the highest academic standards and enable all pupils to achieve their full potential;
- be concerned for the education of the whole person;
- seek to produce self-reliant, conscientious and inquiring people who will go on actively learning for the rest of their lives;
- value all young people and get to know them well.

At the end of their education at Slough Grammar School, young people will have been prepared for citizenship in a democracy through working constructively with the local neighbourhood and the wider community.

Welcome
A message from our Principal, Margaret Lenton (BA FRSA)

“At Slough Grammar School we put our pupils and students first. We have created a challenging and caring school environment that offers the right balance between academic excellence and the recognition of each child’s unique skills and qualities. This allows us to provide the best, most rounded education possible: giving your child every opportunity to flourish and fulfil their potential, both in terms of academic success and personal growth.

This philosophy has attracted high praise for the school in Office for Standards in Education (Ofsted) reports and awards from national bodies. The school has achieved Leading Edge School, and Language College status. We are a Professional Promoting School and a Designated Recommending School, able to train teachers. In addition, we have gained awards in: Curriculum, Arts, Sports, Careers, School Achievement and we’ve been recognised as an Investor in People. This success acknowledges the commitment and dedication of able staff who place the school at the leading edge of education and produce so many conscientious, self-reliant young people.

Our mission statement (which appears to the left) encapsulates our intentions, and our commitment to continuing success. Please take a moment to read it and become familiar with our aims; you and your child will play an important part in the future success of the school.

I hope that you enjoy browsing through our web site and learning more about the school, and please do get in touch to discuss your child’s aspirations and abilities.”
